How the Old National Bank Foundation Funds Environmental Sustainability
Old National has always focused on strengthening and supporting the communities we serve. In 2025, we invested over $4.2 million in our communities via grants to 275 organizations, many in the environmental sustainability category.
“In 2025, the Old National Bank Foundation focused on what it takes to create lasting change,” said Old National Bank Foundation President Joe Kiser. “This includes stable housing, access to economic opportunity and the tools people need to build financial security. By investing alongside trusted community partners, we’re helping move families and neighborhoods from resilience to real, long‑term progress.”
In 2025, 98% of all ONB Foundation grant funding supported CRA-eligible initiatives, and 72% of grants served underrepresented communities.
Here are just a handful of environmental sustainability initiatives funded in 2025 through our foundation:
Inner‑City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) – Chicago, Illinois
ONB Foundation funding strengthens IMAN’s “Green ReEntry” program, a comprehensive initiative that blends job training with intensive wraparound support to help justice‑involved residents rebuild stability and economic opportunity. Participants earn industry‑recognized, environmentally-focused certifications while gaining practical skills connected to community revitalization and the growing sustainability sector. By pairing workforce development with holistic healing and neighborhood investment, the program creates a pathway for residents to contribute to and benefit from a healthier and more vibrant community.
Community Action of Northeast Indiana (CANI) – Fort Wayne, Indiana
Our support for CANI’s Weatherization Supplemental Home Repair initiative enables critical home fixes that must occur before energy‑efficiency upgrades can be safely completed, protecting families from health hazards and structural deterioration. By addressing issues like failing roofs, unsafe wiring, and broken heating systems, the program ensures that low‑income households can fully benefit from weatherization services that reduce utility costs and improve long‑term housing stability. This investment strengthens both the livability of aging homes and the financial resilience of the families who rely on them.
The Patachou Foundation – Indianapolis, Indiana
The Food Fellowship program provides paid, hands‑on workforce experience for students, immersing them in culinary arts, sustainable agriculture, and food‑system education. With guidance from local chefs, farmers, and food‑justice leaders, participants develop technical skills, leadership abilities, and a deeper understanding of how food access shapes community well‑being. By preparing young people for meaningful employment while nurturing a new generation of food‑system advocates, the program strengthens pathways to economic mobility and promotes a healthier, more resilient local food ecosystem.
Star Farm Chicago – Chicago, Illinois
Star Farm combines workforce development, food access, and small-business incubation to grow the local food economy. By training residents, especially women and people of color, for employment in sustainable agriculture, the program advances health and economic outcomes simultaneously.
